Latonia M. Dixon, PhD, is a published poet, spiritual teacher, and dedicated light language and ancestor healer. A graduate of Mastering Alchemy, she also holds a doctorate in Mythological Studies with an Emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute as well as a master’s degree in Women’s Spirituality from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Dr. Dixon is a retired registered nurse, a licensed Religious Science practitioner, and a proud veteran of the United States Army. Her academic contributions include teaching in the Humanities Department at Napa Valley College, where she engaged students in courses such as Women’s Ethnic Heritage, Comparative Religion, Introduction to Ethics, and Philosophy of Religion. Notably, she created and taught a unique class titled, “Painting from the Heart,” on Treasure Island, San Francisco.
An active participant in the academic community, Dr. Dixon has led workshops on topics like Black Fairytales and Folktales, Black Mermaids and Mermen, and Black History at Vision: A Center for Spiritual Living. She has presented her research at various conferences, including the International Conference of Faiths, Spiritualities, and Knowledge in Nigeria, where she delivered a paper on, “Osun: An African Goddess of Sweet Waters and the Healing Heart of the Community.” Additionally, she contributed to the Association for the Study of Women and Mythology in 2025 and presented at Mythlogium in 2023 on, “Osun: As the Heart of the Community.” Her poetry was published in She Is Everywhere!: An Anthology of Writing in Womanist/Feminist Spirituality (2005). Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Dixon enjoys traveling to explore diverse mythologies and traditions as well as connecting with nature through walks by rivers and forests. She delights in attending musicals, documentaries, movies, fine dining experiences, and poetry readings.
Dr. Dixon is passionate about thinking from the heart and speaking from the soul, embodying her belief in the interconnectedness of humanity and nature.
